Persistence. Soul. Hustle: Galactic Girl debuts on Get Physical
Editor’s Note:
Galactic Girl’s debut EP on Get Physical released October 29th, 2025, instantly commanded our attention - not just for its energy and polish, but for the story behind the sound. Far from an overnight sensation, Galactic Girl’s journey is the kind built on persistence: hustling on the 6 train after long shifts, she poured her soul into each phrase even when exhaustion set in. This release is a testament to what happens when a woman claims her rightful place in the music scene and channels every struggle into unmistakable voice and vision.
We are inspired not only by her courage to step into the spotlight but by the years of unseen labor that make this moment matter.
The real breakthroughs are earned, not given.

Where did the idea for “New Me” first come to you?
I definitely went into writing for this track super excited, which gave me a boost I don’t usually get when I'm working out a song. I had searched through my notes app for any sparks of inspiration, and I had previously written the line “took my chances now I'm feeling bold, am I turning heads or am I breaking molds?” which i had originally thought of more as a “sad” or “depressing” line but its cool how it flipped for me with the upbeat core of the track, It was meant for a happy song after all!
How did it feel to collaborate? tell us a little bit about working with Saqib and how it started
Working with Saqib has been a great experience! It’s all felt very serendipitous - I had checked out Beats On Time before meeting Saqib and Nina, I’m so thankful I got the chance to connect with them in person and it was SUCH a gift that they enjoyed my music and heard potential! Saqib and I were sending songs back and forth by the next day!
How was the process behind “New Me”? Was it different from your usual style?
Totally and completely different for me. It was very out of my comfort zone, but I was in a place where I was more interested in electronic music and branching out into other genres. After attending the OP-1 Producer Program at 343 Labs I was surrounded by house, EDM, bass, dnb etc; When I’ve always been rooted in rock and pop. I look forward to making more music out of my comfort zone!
What’s your favorite imperfection that made it into the final track?
I love the breathy, gasps of air! I think it’s so fun and almost sensual. It adds a kind of flair.
You said it’s “a celebration of new beginnings.” What does that actually look like for you right now?
2025 is the year I’ve really taken my music career seriously, so it’s been incredible to go through this release process with Saqib and Get Physical Music. I’ve learned SO much about the industry, collaboration, labels, contracts, royalties and more. It’s a new world for me as someone with less experience in this greater scale of exposure. It feels good & has reminded me that maybe I’m on the right path.
The track feels both dreamy and physical. How do you balance emotion and groove when you write?
I honestly don’t think that I do very well. I’m often led by emotion, that’s where songwriting has always stemmed for me. It’s a form of venting, release and closure.
I think the process for me is finding the groove, and when I do there is room for balance.
Your voice on this record is soft and airy, but it cuts through so clearly. What’s your relationship with your voice right now?
I think at this point, whether it’s age or growth, I think I sound the best I ever have. I’ve trained my voice for a long time, singing in choir and theatre since I was a kid. I’ve had a lot of singing teachers, coaches and directors who taught me a lot of “rules”. I give so much credit to my training, but with time away I’ve also found power in breaking those rules. I’ve been able to find my own sound and get truly comfortable with my instrument. It’s almost a form of trust.I’m always learning and growing and working to be better, I aim to treat my voice with kindness and love through every phase.
If you could dedicate “New Me” to one person or one feeling, who or what would it be?
“New Me” is for the overworked, the exhausted, for people looking for that pick-me-up. This is one of those songs you play while you’re getting ready to hype yourself up. It bleeds confidence and adds a pep in your step.
The underground scene in NYC keeps changing. What’s your take on where it’s at right now?
We’re in brand new territory right now with the internet, It’s easy to feel overwhelmed by the amount of people claiming to be artists. We have an overload of content and information being thrown at us every day. It's hard to feel like there’s room for you to exist in the orbit at all. I constantly feel these feelings, but am also usually proved wrong in the reality of it. I work at a small music venue in Brooklyn, I get to see hundreds of bands and musicians every weekend who make amazing music and put on a great show. I meet so many kinds of people, all across the spectrum of being “known” or having a lot of spotify listeners. It reminds me that it truly doesn’t matter how many followers you have, no matter how much the scene changes or grows, the love for music will always be at core.
Do you think house music today still carries the same sense of community it once did?
I’d like to believe it does. Our world is very fucked up right now and we don’t have much sense of community as is. House music has always been great at bringing people together, and I hope “New Me” does the same for others.
What’s next for Galactic Girl after this release, more collaborations or another solo orbit?
I would love more collaboration! Although I've gotten to this point doing it all on my own, I feel that I'm finally starting to find my team and allow myself to let others into my creative field and it's been wonderful. I have SO much music hidden in the vault that I'd love to share, and I'm making more and more along the way. It's all about creating a life filled with music, for me. So here's to continuing to create that and sharing the process!
